Designed as Daniel Solomon Design Partners with STUDIOS, 2015

John Ellis Project Designer with Daniel Solomon, Nick Wai-Poi, Mohammad Momin

UCLA Glenrock is a 46 (68 bed) apartment project for undergraduate students located on a steeply sloping site in Westwood close to the UCLA campus. The design consists of two buildings on either side of a stepped courtyard. The architectural language recalls the work of Richard Neutra’s Midcentury Modernism on nearby sites. Sunshading elements animate the facades.

The 1,000 sq ft apartments consist of two-bedrooms each with an ensuite bathroom and a shared living space. The design could thus be converted back to a private apartment building if UCLA ever chose to move out and sell the project.
