As part of the study for Parcel B, we held a six-week long charrette with five other architects to test the urban design guidelines. The other firms were Owen Kennerly, Scott Merrill, Moule Polyzoides, Mark Horton and Michael Willis architects. Each firm had a block to design and were required to produce a first pass at their design after two weeks and present to a day-long review. At that event the designs were rigorously critiqued in order to relate to each other resulting in a second review a month later where more cohesive overall design was presented. The two-step process helped all the designs to learn from each other and to create a strong coherent example of compact urbanism.
