Hunters View was one of San Francisco’s most distressed public housing projects. Isolated freestanding buildings dating from WWII segregated the residents from the rest of the city. The masterplan reconfigured the site to create a network of streets and small blocks that connected with the surrounding neighborhood and to orient views towards Downtown. Urban design guidelines defined a new pattern with buildings that fronted the streets to create a mixed-income traditional neighborhood. Daniel Solomon Design Partners designed the master plan and the architecture for Block 4, while the remaining blocks were designed by others.
