Othello Station/ Holly Park, Seattle WA
Designed as WRT/Solomon ETC, 1999-2006
John Ellis Urban Designer with Daniel Solomon, Anne Torney, Laura Hinde.
Othello Station funded by the HUD HOPE VI programme, replaced distressed public housing from the 1940’s with a new dense neighborhood of mixed uses for residents of diverse incomes. The master plan extends the existing street grid into the 36-acre site and is organized around a crescent shaped central park. The approximately 400 units vary in type and density; from rowhouses along the interior of the site to stacked flats around the perimeter.
Daniel Solomon Design Partners prepared the master plan and were architects for the first 219 low-rental units and the first mixed-income housing over retail building.
