An Ideas Competition to rethink the San Francisco waterfront from Fisherman’s Wharf to China Basin following the removal of the Embarcadero Freeway after the 1989 Earthquake.

The plan explores how the blocks south of the Transbay Terminal previously occupied by the freeway could be redeveloped as a high-density, mixed-use district.

The Transbay Terminal was to be reconfigured to accommodate a reconstituted Key System rail service from the Bay Bridge.

A new Ocean Liner Terminal is shown on Pier 32 permitting cruise ships to pass under the Bay Bridge on theior way in and out of the Bay.
