UCLA needs to build more student housing and commissioned this plan to identify sites within the Northwest area of the campus. The Northwest area of the campus is located on the sloping hillside behind the Drake Stadium largelyy as a residential district. It has been built on in a haphazared manner since the 1960’s with a variety of building types that range from lowrise woodframed buildings to highrise cponcrete framed slabs.

Capacity studies were developed to demonstrate how many student beds could be accommodated and recommendations made on priority sites.

Following these recommendations UCLA hired Mithun to build student housing on the Lot 15 site.
