John Ellis Urban Designer with Daniel Solomon, Matthew Priest

The UCLA Southwest campus is a gateway to Westwood and the larger campus and will be enhanced further with the advent of the LA Subway. The University commissioned a Feasibility study to explore deverlopment potential for locations adjacent to the new station and opportunity sites for additional student housing.

Block 1, closest to Wilshire Boulevard, is identified as an opportunity site for commercial development with the proposed subway station. Blocks 2 and 3 to the north are seen as sites for student housing in relation to existing projects.

The study led to Mithun Solomon being hired to design student housing for the formere Warren site on Block 3.
