Cafe Soleil was designed as part of Grosvenor International’s project for Plaza Park Tower to improve the ambience of Plaza Park and provide both public restrooms and a new cafe and outdoor facility for the city. The design was inspired by California’s Arts and Crafts tradition and painted in colors from the Shaker West store.
The cafe was an new civic amenity provided by Plaza Park Tower's developer Grosvenor International for the park.

The project was funded by the developers of the Plaza Park Tower as an amenity for the community. This view shows how the cafe was extended in the manner of the original design by another architecture firm.
