Designed as KMD Architects, 1986

John Ellis Project Designer with Rich Lowry, Sam Assefa

Subsequently remodelled by Herman Coliver Lucas Architects 2022

Canon Kip is an Episcopal Sanctuary facility located in San Francisco’s South of Market District. It provides Single Room Occupancy (SRO) units for the formerly homeless together with a dining room and communal kitchen. In addition there are offices for the local Filipino community. 108 units each with its own kitchen and bathroom provide homes with security and privacy for the residents.

The corner rotunda acts as a marker for the project on the corner of 8th and Natoma Streets.

An earlier walk-up sketch plan is shown, with Shared Apartments in place of Single Room Occupancy units.
