Garfield housing competition, Pittsburgh PA

Designed as John G Ellis architect, 1982

Garfield is a rundown district in Pittsburgh that had a tradition of single family homes on individual parcels. The competition sought ideas about urban infill. The design proposed a row of 4 townhouses with inlaw units above the garages accessed from the rear alley. The architectural language was responsive to the local vernacular.
