Alice Griffith is a public housing project on the edge of the Bayview District and is part of an ambitious plan by Lennar and the City of San Francisco to revive the neighborhood around the former Candlestick Park Stadium. The masterplan reconfigures the site to create a new pattern of streets and small b;locks centered on a new neighborhood park. The existing 258 dwellings are to be replaced with a mix of staclked flats and rowhouses creating a new mixed-income neighborhood and doubling the overall density. Phase one on an em,pty site enabled existing residents to be relocated without displacement.
The plan is organized around a new linear park, modelled on San Francisco's historic South Park. The new street grid and block pattern intergrates the development into the surrounding context.
