The following study considers residential block prototypes for the Domodedovo Master Plan, in an urban subcenter of the greater Moscow region. These prototypes illustrate some of the block configurations that can be composed from a limited number of building types. The building types include: 15 story, 50m tall, high-rise towers; 5 and 6 story, 20m tall, mid-rise buildings; and 3 story, 10m tall, walk-up townhouses. The block prototypes consist of two general configurations: Perimeter Blocks with large aggregated open spaces at the center, and Alley Blocks that provide intimate settings for townhouses. The blocks are shown at a variety of densities related to different massing, open space and parking strategies.
