India Basin Neighborhood Plan, San Francisco

Designed as WRT/Solomon ETC, 2006

John Ellis Urban Designer with Daniel Solomon

India Basin is located on the shore between the Bayview District and the Hunters Point Shipyard. The existing fragmented urban fabric is a combination of freestanding public housing of WWII war worker barracks and suburban layouts by Aaron Green in the 1960’s. The masterplan reestablished the regular Bayview street grid and proposed a traditional pattern of residential building typologies that included rowhouses, wealk-up stacked flats, and a few strategically located midrise and highrise towers.
